The Twin Track Approach

At On Track Training and Coaching, we are committed to ensuring that our clients achieve their planned return on investment and that the people we work with are given every opportunity to use and apply their learning in the workplace.

As Janice Caplan reports in Coaching for the Future (2003), research shows that 60% of what is learned in class is forgotten in 60 minutes and that 90% is forgotten in 30 days!  In addition, only 10-20% of learning was transferred back into the workplace.  To minimise the risk of this happening, we have established The Twin Track Approach as a way of engaging coaching to enhance the effectiveness of workplace training.

So how do we do it? We design and deliver team leader development programmes aimed at supporting people new to this role.  In tandem we challenge their line managers to develop coaching skills with the aim of supporting the team leaders in transferring their learning back into the workplace.  In addition to our role as trainers, we coach on a 1-2-1 basis both the team leaders and the line managers, developing their confidence and helping build effective relationships within the team.  Gradually, over time, we step away allowing the team leaders and line managers to stand on their own two feet!
